Name: Balgera Grumello Veltellina Superiore DOCG
Producer: Balgera Vini di Balgera Paolo
From the Winery:
"Valtellina is a tectonic valley that runs east to west, few kilometers south of the Alps that separate northen Lombardy from Switzerland. The vineyards grown in a narrow strip running parallel to the ocurse of the Adda river, on extremely steep terraces facing south, between 400 and 900 meters above sea level. The soil is made of alluvial and glacial debris mostly made of metamorphic rocks (crystalline schists). Balgera family has been crafting fine wines in Valtellina since 1885 through a combination of careful viticulture, spontaneous fermentations and very long aging in cement and large oak casks. Balgera's goal has always been one: to be true to Valtellina's terroir."
