Name: Clotaire Michal BV Centenaires
Producer: Domaine Clotaire Michal
From the Winery:
"The fruit for the Vignes Centenaires comes exclusively from a small plot of Clotaire’s vines that are, perhaps to no one’s surprise, more than 100 years old. Fermented and aged in the same fashion as the regular cuvee. The Vignes Centenaires is a young and very, very promising example that is deeper and moderately more complex than the regular cuvee. A precise bouquet of dark cherry, cranberries, thyme, and granite, with a hint of smokiness. This wine is deep, medium-plus bodied with a firm mid-palate today. The tannins are present but not overpowering with fine acidity and excellent length. I see this wine having a slightly longer evolution than the regular cuvee and felt like it would be showing even more of its potential with a couple of years in the cellar. It’s great today and with a bit of bottle age it will be excellent. Only 3000 bottles produced."
