From the Winery:
"In the Fifth century, Scandinavian nomads settled in a temperate corner of France The Burgundii Tribe from the North found a home and the Pinot Noir grape.
The people cultivated the vineyards and gave thanks to Freja (Fray-ya), their goddess of love and fertility, renowned for her beauty and her golden necklace. She traveled the heavens on a chariot drawn by two felines and, at times, rode her husband's eight-legged horse, Sleipner.
Fifteen centuries later, Pinot Noir is thriving in another cool climate, the Willamette Valley of Oregon. One philosophy at Freja Cellars is simple. We make our unfiltered wine from estate-grown grapes, maintain low crop yields and minimize handling of the fruit, letting the terroir shine through. Enjoy!"
