Vinous Review: 94 points
"Bright red. Pungent aromas of lavender, redcurrant and violet. Then multilayered and dense with delightful inner-mouth perfume and a penetrating quality to the red cherry and berry fruit flavors, complicated by hints of soy sauce and minerals. Very saline and pure on the long suave finish. Very Burgundian in style, this is a real knockout; ferments sixty days on the skins and is aged in epoxy-lined 1,500 liter to 2,500 liter tanks. Made with 100% Nerello Mascalese grapes picked from 90+ year old vines and Cornelissen’s highest vineyards (hence vigne alte in Italian, or “high vineyards” in English): Tartaraci, Pettinociarelle, and Monte Dolce all above 800 meters above sea level (the three sit at 1,000, 890 and 870 meters above sea level respectively)."
