"Rich yet balanced, this modern red offers plum, blackberry, coffee, mineral and spicy flavors supported by firm, well-integrated tannins. A smooth yet powerful wine that blooms on the finish. --Non-blind Campo Eliseo vertical (January 2013). Drink now through 2020."

"Saturated ruby. Heady aromas of dark berry and cherry compote, mocha, licorice and floral oils, with a smoky nuance gaining strength in the glass. Plush and open-knit, offering hefty black and blue fruit flavors that are lifted and given spine by juicy acidity. Shows superb energy and focus on the persistent, floral finish, which is shaped by smooth, slow-building tannins."

"The 2008 Campo Eliseo was aged for 16 months in new French oak. It has a generous, open bouquet of dark cherry fruit mingling with raspberry, thyme, and a touch of wild heather and dried herbs. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins and a firm structure. There is a little more tension in the 2008 compared to the 2009, although the plush finish does not quite have the same degree of finesse. There is an attractive balsamic seam that runs from start to finish. This is well-crafted and should continue to offer pleasure over several years."
