"The 2011 Barbaresco Albesani is the richest of these four Barbarescos from Cantina del Pino. Suave, silky and enveloping throughout, the 2011 possesses superb density and richness, both signatures of this south-facing site in Neive. Sweet dark cherry, plum, spice, mint, leather and blood orange and tobacco add shades of nuance on the close."

"The 2011 Barbaresco Albesani is the wine that surprised me most among Cantina del Pino's new releases. It shows an exceptional level of focus and clarity with tight tannins at the back that keep it stitched together tightly. It shows an impressive level of unity and precision. The bouquet is slow to start, but once it does it delivers a steady stream of dark fruit, licorice, balsam herb and crushed mineral. The Albesani cru, with its thick clay soils, evidently had enough underground moisture to avoid heat stress on the vines during the hot summer."

"Bold and full-bodied, this opens with aromas of mature berry, eucalyptus, baking spice and a balsamic note. The powerful palate doles out ripe black cherry marinated in spirits, licorice, menthol, mint, clove and pipe tobacco. Closely-knit, polished tannins provide support and an almost velvety texture. It boasts muscle and finesse."
