Name: Maitia 'Maitia' Old Vine Carignan
Region: Maule Valley
Producer: Vina Maitia
Wine Advocate: 92 points
"The more serious 2016 Maitia is also pure Carignan from 80-year-old vines planted by a Frenchman, Paul Pacottet. It's produced in a Pipeño way, with short macerations and aging in concrete for ten months before bottling. This is very balsamic, almost minty, with bright aromas, red fruit and some spices; this wine always has those characteristics. The palate is medium-bodied, with fine-grained tannins 5,000 bottles were filled in February 2017."
