Join us Thursday, May 28th, at 6:30pm for a Zoom conference tasting of three wines from one of the world's most iconic wineries, Chateau Musar.

This tasting will be co-hosted by Bartholomew Broadbent! Bartholomew, the US importer for Chateau Musar, is an old friend and is the son of Michael Broadbent who wrote The Great Vintage Wine Book (one of the most important books on wine ever written). Additionally, to give you an appreciation for how special Chateau Musar is, the owner was named the inaugural Winemaker Of The Year by Decanter Magazine.

We will taste these three fabulous wines:

2010 Chateau Musar Blanc, $52.99

As Serge Hochar explained at the time, this Chateau Musar Blanc from the 2010 vintage is a blend of Obaideh and Merwah, two ancient Lebanese grape varieties dating back thousands of years. Reputedly, the ancestors of Chardonnay/Chasselas and Semillon, they are among only six indigenous grapes still cultivated in Lebanon. The Chateau Musar White 2010 is a beautifully balanced wine with good fresh lemon acidity, tropical fruit flavors on the palate, and an elegant finish. This Blanc has aged into a wonderfully complex, fascinating wine over the last 10 years and is another remarkable wine from this very special place on earth.

2016 Chateau Musar Hochar Pere et Fils, $29.99

The Hochar Père et Fils 2016 is a blend of Cinsault (50%), Grenache (35%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (15%). The Hochar of this year is bright ruby red in color with red fruits, plums, sloes, and cherries on the nose and palate. This balanced and elegant wine combines vibrant fruit on a medium body with soft tannins, good acidity, and if cellared well, it will keep for several years.

2000 Chateau Musar Rouge, $72.99

Chateau Musar has a sweet, earthy succulence in 2000 that's hard to resist, a combination of raspberry liqueur, mocha, black olives, and very rich earth. It's all interwoven with chewy, firm tannins and stony minerality. The structure should hold it for another decade.
