Join us Thursday, August 6th at 6:30pm for a Zoom tasting of Nicolas Catena wines with head winemaker Nesti Bajda. Nicolas Catena is inarguably Argentina's most important and pioneering winery. Their vision is to make rich and unforgettable wines that are true to the special place they come from. Founded in 1902, Bodega Catena Zapata is known for its pioneering role in resurrecting Malbec and in discovering extreme high altitude terroirs in the Andean foothills of Mendoza. Nesti hosted a tasting of his wines with us last year and it was one of the most successful tastings we have conducted. And, if we are lucky, Nesti will sing a little opera for us!
Thursday's tasting will include (we will taste them in this order)
2017 Catena Cabernet Franc "San Carlos", $19.99
2017 was a warmer and slightly riper year and the wine shows softer and riper. It matured in 100% French oak barrels before it was bottled in 2018. Superb Cab Franc.

2017 Catena Malbec "Paraje Altamira", $19.99
This really stands out in 2017. It has finesse and subtleness, with harmony, balance, and elegance.

2017 Catena Cabernet Sauvignon "Agrelo", $19.99
A textbook example of Agrelo with juicy fruit and polished, sweet tannins. It shows a very classical Bordeaux-like profile – peppery, spicy, and elegant.
