We hope you will join us at 4:00 on Saturday, February 27th, for our next "One Expert, Two Wines, Thirty Minutes Tasting" featuring Bodegas Chacra. At a wine tasting in New York City, Piero Incisa della Rocchetta, the proprietor of Sassicaia in Tuscany, discovered a pinot noir that brought his attention to the Río Negro region of Patagonia, Argentina. After his first visit, he knew this would be the home of his new passion. The vineyards are certified organic and biodynamic. In Patagonia, a “chacra” is a special piece of land devoted to viticulture - similar to a Cru in Piedmont or Burgundy. Piero considers a chacra a vital energy center that provides us with the ability to connect with the whole universe, with everything living and vibrating. In its nourishment, in the marriage with every meal, wine is the companion of pleasure and sensitivity. Wine is intimate and touches all our senses. Chacra aims to enhance that connection.

Saturday's tasting will feature, in this order:
2019 Bodegas Chacra Pinot Noir Barda, $22.99
I love the forest-fruit, must, and wet-earth character here. Perfumed. Medium body, very fine round tannins and intense, crushed stones. Hints of cedar and hazelnuts. Crunchy. Always an exciting pinot noir from Argentina.
Purchase the Barda here:
2019 Bodegas Chacra Pinot Noir Sin Azufre, $36.99
This no-sulfur wine is extremely precise and floral with violets and poppies as well as the purple fruit. Medium body. Chewy tannins that are slightly austere, yet fresh.
