Join us at 4:00 on Saturday, January 16th, for our next "One Expert, Two Wines, Thirty Minutes" Tasting with Chantal Forthun, the winemaker at Flowers Vineyards in Sonoma. Great winemaking begins with great farming. This belief is what initially led Flowers to the remote coastal ridges of the extreme Sonoma Coast and it continues to drive everything they do from farming using a blend of organic and sustainable practices to fermenting their wines with 100% native yeast. They believe that the extreme conditions of vineyard sites should be embraced, not controlled, and each wine should be a unique representation of place and time. It’s not the easy way to make wine but they believe it’s the best way.
Saturday's tasting will include, tasted in this order:

The 2017 Chardonnay Sonoma Coast gives subtle notes of ripe pears, allspice, and applesauce with pineapple and lemon juice sparks plus a hint of baking bread. Medium-bodied, elegant, and refreshing, it has a lovely creaminess to the texture and a touch of nutmeg on the savory finish.
