Join us Thursday, July 9th at 6:30pm for a Zoom tasting of three very special wines from world-renowned winemaker Christian Moreau and his son, Fabien. In 1972, after 11 years in Canada, Christian Moreau returned to Chablis with his Canadian wife, Christine, and their three sons, Philippe, Patrick, and Fabien. Under the guiding hand of his father, Guy, Christian began to learn and master the art of winemaking. Fabien, a member of the sixth generation of the family to be involved in winemaking, obtained his National Degree in Oenology in Dijon and a Masters in Business Administration at the E.N.I.T.A. in Bordeaux. He then went to New Zealand for a year to study the country's winemaking practices. In December 2001, Fabien returned to Chablis and took over as Managing Director and Head Winemaker at the Domaine Christian Moreau Pere et Fils. With the 2002 vintage, the Christian Moreau family regained their full rights, not only to farm their own vineyards but also to make and market the wines belonging to their Domaine. Their wines are highly sought-after by wine lovers all over the world. It is fair to say that Domaine Christian Moreau is one of the two most acclaimed wineries in Chablis and one of the most respected white wine producers in the world.
Thursday's tasting will include:
2018 Christian Moreau Chablis, $33.99
There is a whiff of the exotic to the melon-tinged aromas of white flower and white and yellow-fleshed fruit. There is both good volume and energy to the delicious flavors that terminate in a clean, dry, and refreshing finish. This is built on its fruit and will drink well after only a few years of cellaring.

2016 Christan Moreau Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons, $58.99
Enough wood to warrant mentioning is present on the ripe white orchard fruit aromas that also exhibit hints of the exotic along with tidal pool nuances. The rich, caressing, and seductively textured mid-palate of the medium weight flavors contrasts considerably with the very dry, crisp, and solidly complex finish. Lovely.

2017 Christian Moreau Chablis Grand Cru les Clos, $114.99
Once again the presence of moderate wood influence does not suppress the expressiveness of the mildly exotic white orchard fruit and oyster shell aromas that also display plenty of petrol character. The delicious and succulent medium plus weight flavors possess ample amounts of minerality and sappy dry extract that buffers the lemon-tinged acid spine shaping the powerful, complex and impressively persistent, dry, and crisp finale. This too is very promising.
