Join us Thursday, September 10th, at 6:30pm for a Zoom tasting of the wines of Weingut Hoepler with owner/winemaker Christof Hoepler. Christof presented his wines at a tasting in our private room last year and he is an engaging and informative host. Weingut Hoepler is an Austrian, family-owned winery located southeast of Vienna in Burgenland. Their 50ha of vineyards lie in the Leithaberg Hills on the shores of Lake Neusiedl. This unique location enables them to produce a wide range of wines; 55% white wine, 40% red, and 5% dessert wine. Hoepler wines have a clear signature. They tend to be delicate, elegant, and high in minerality. They are excellent to drink on their own but versatile when it comes to food and wine pairing. They are famous for making the house wines for the Trapp Family Lodge of Sound of Music fame and are fortunate to count the Vienna State Opera Ball, Jamie Oliver, Thomas Keller (French Laundry, Yountville), Bobby Flay (Mesa Grill, New York), Petri Lukkarinen (Olo, Helsinki), Gordon Ramsay, and Marco Pierre White amongst some of their more prestigious customers.

2017 Hoepler Zweigelt, $21.99
Zweigelt is the most widely planted red varietals in Austria. It was created by Dr. Zweigelt in 1922 by crossing Blaufränkisch with St. Laurent (two other typical Austrian varietals). Dark ruby red with tinges of purple. Aromas of red berries with a touch of vanilla. On the palate, a long elegant finish with toasty aromatic notes. Simply fantastic with barbequed food.

Remember, you can pick up the wines prior to the tasting with curbside pick up.
We hope you will join us each Thursday at 6:30. Next week's tasting is Domaine des Triennes wines from Provence with Jeremy Seysses of Domaine Triennes and Domaine Dujac!
