We just love the superb Barolos of Paolo Scavino here at Sunfish Cellars and Osteria I Nonni and our Zoom conversation with Elisa Scavino last year was one of the highlights of our program of virtual tastings. They own 30 hectares entirely in the Barolo area and work on 20 Barolo historical crus located in Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, La Morra, Novello, Serralunga d’Alba, Verduno, Roddi, and Monforte d’Alba.
The Scavino family has distinguished itself from the beginning with their scrupulous care of the vineyards and passion for terroir. Their core belief is the supremacy of viticulture above oenology. The focus is the care of the vines in order to grow ripe and healthy grapes. In winemaking, minimal intervention is employed to preserve natural diversity of terroir.
We are pleased to offer these three superb Barolos, including the fantastic value Barolo at $39.99!
2017 Paolo Scavino Barolo, $39.99
A solid 2017 with a linear flow of fine tannins through the center of the wine providing structure and backbone that gives the wine lovely energy. Lots of blackberries, ripe strawberries, and blue fruit. Long and vivid. 94 points from James Suckling and 93 points from Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate.

2017 Paolo Scavino Barolo Bric del Fiasc (one of the first Barolo Crus), $97.99
With fruit from Castiglione Falletto, the Bric dël Fiasc is another terrific release from this leading Barolo estate. In fact, this wine delivers a big step up in terms of intensity and clarity with a seamless integration of dark fruit, spice, balsam herb, and sweet cherry. It also shows enormous clarity and definition, thanks to subtle touches of limestone and minerality. This wine figures high on a list of the best Barolos made in 2017. 96 points from Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate.

2017 Paolo Scavino Barolo Cannubi (2018 will be the last vintage for this wine), $99.99
Fragrant and rich, showing a gorgeous level of aromatic purity and intensity that could not have been easy to achieve in a very hot vintage. Tones of wild cherry, blackberry, spice, and sweet earth rise from the bouquet with prominence. This is a lovely wine. 95+ points from Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate.
