Two absolutely glorious dry German Rieslings

Markus Molitor is one of the most unique winemakers in the world. He made over 75 wines in the 2016 vintage (he is the only winemaker) and almost every single wine is absolutely stunning. This wine is evidence of that and there are only two six-bottle cases for the state of Minnesota (and guess who got them!).

Of course, German Riesling is terribly misunderstood by most people who say they hate them because they are sweet. Some are - many aren't - the best wines are sweet, but most people who say they don't like them because they are sweet have never tasted the BAs and TBAs that are among the world's most extraordinary wines.

That being said, this wine is dry and it is sensational. 2016 Weingut Markus Molitor Kinheimer Hubertuslay Auslese ** White Label (what all that means is that this is a wine made by Markus Molitor from grapes in the Hubertuslay vineyard in Kinheim from very high quality grapes and fermented dry).

Our price is only $88.99.

Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate rates it 95 points, saying: "The 2016 Riesling Kinheimer Hubertuslay Auslese ** (White Capsule) shows a deep yet very fine and mineral slate bouquet with very fine bright Riesling aromas. Full-bodied and complex, with a firm and persistent mineral structure, this is a very elegant, refined and persistent Auslese that reflects the fine slate soils of the Hubertuslay beautifully. This is superbly balanced, finessed and elegant. Although it already drinks with pleasure today, the wine will gain complexity over the years in the bottle. Drink 2021 to 2040. 95 points."

By the way, we have a few bottles remaining of the equally glorious 2018 Gunderloch Nackenheim Trocken Grosses Gewachs, rated 95 points by James Suckling, for $69.99!
