Who says Burgundy has to be ultra expensive?

Earlier this year, we bought a large allotment of 2018 Domaine de la Madonne Beaujolais and it absolutely flew off the shelves because everyone who tasted it loved it - and it was so affordable. Well, this is just as good and even more affordable!

Beaujolais gets a bad rap because of Beaujolais Nouveau – deservedly so - but well-made beaujolais can be among the best value wines in the world and certainly an affordable introduction to red Burgundies.

The 2019 Domaine de la Madonne Beaujolais-Villages "le Perreon", only $12.99 (!), is absolutely fabulous - bright red fruit (raspberries, strawberries, and currants), beautiful floral aromatics, pronounced minerality, soft tannins, and lovely finish.

The Wine Advocate agrees with us, rating it 92 points and saying: "Inviting aromas of black cherries, blueberries and licorice introduce the 2019 Beaujolais-Villages Le Perréon, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy wine with a deep core of succulent fruit framed by powdery tannins and lively acids. As usual, this flavorful, beautifully made red from the Bererd brothers belongs on any short list of France's best-value bistrot wines. Drink now to 2030."
