"Since he started his winery in Sebastopol in 1991, Paul Hobbs has had a meteoric rise to fame in the world of wine. Boasting a portfolio of award-winning wines from some of the greatest vineyard sites in California, and now (through his Paul Hobbs Selections line) all over the world, Paul has built an empire on the concept of terroir, offering wines truly reflective of the place in which they are grown. The newest wine in Paul’s quiver is this beautiful pinot noir from the newest appellation in California, the West Sonoma Coast AVA. Planted on steep ridges along the San Andreas fault line with altitudes ranging from 400 feet to 1800 feet in elevation, the wine bristles with acidity and opens with ripe black cherry and dried strawberry backed by layers of lavender, licorice, menthol, spice, and a bit of earth. Soft and supple in texture, with velvety tannins and a long finish. The texture, complexity and purity show the uncompromising quality of this wine and the rugged terrain in which it is grown. Delicious juice from a California legend. Try with grilled chicken or pork, mushrooms, risotto, grilled or roasted vegetables.
