An off the charts bang for the buck Cabernet Sauvignon

The holy grail of wine is the truly excellent $10 red. I've been your knight errant covering the countryside on my trusty steed searching for it, and here is what I have found.

2018 Yalumba Y Series Cabernet Sauvignon, $9.99

It is an enormous over-achiever, with true varietal Cabernet Sauvignon character - dry, full-bodied, dark currant and blackberry fruit, pronounced tannins which are beginning to soften now with 2 1/2 years of bottle age. Wine Enthusiast rates it 92 points, saying: "Yalumba's everyday reds tend to have a brightness and approachability about them, and this latest Cab doesn't disappoint. The nose is a lovely combo of currant and red berry backed by graphite, eucalyptus and large helpings of spices. It's bone dry and cinched by raspy tannins, the fruit taking a back seat to the lovely layers of texture and tannin. An excellent intro to South Aussie Cabernet. Drink now to 2028. 92 points."

And here's the kicker: There is a graduated mail-in rebate on it. If you buy 1 bottle, there is a $1 rebate. If you buy 6 bottles, there is a $12 rebate. If you buy a case for $113.89, there is a $36 rebate - making it a $6.49 bottle of wine!
